2.5mn Votes For Tinubu: Edo People’ll Resist Rigging 2027 Election, CRPP Warns Okpebholo

The Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP), has warned that any attempt to rig the 2027 presidential election in Edo State, in favor of President Bola Tinubu, by Governor Monday Okpebholo, will be resisted by the people.

National Chairman of CRPP, Dr. Samson Isibor, gave the warning in a statement in Benin, the state capital, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Isibor challenged Okpebholo to explain how he planned to deliver 2.5 million votes for Tinubu, also condemned alleged undue interference and single-handedly picking candidates in the forth-coming primary election of his party.

“We challenge Governor Okpebholo to explain to Edo people how he plans to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the coming election in 2027.

“To us, it is nothing more than a wishful thinking, unless he plans to play political abracadabra with Edo voters. We assure him that Edo people will resist any attempt to subvert their wish through rigging, with the last drops of their blood.

“We also condemn Okpebholo’s undue interference and single-handedly picking candidates in the forthcoming primary election of his party. We urge him to let democracy breathe,” Isibor said.

Speaking further, the CRPP national chairman threatened to invite the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to beam searchlights on some projects of Governor Monday Okpebholo especially the two fly-overs.

He challenged Okpebholo to disclose the total cost for the construction of the two fly-overs which he said the Governor had continued to invite celebrities to inspect, adding that the Edo people deserved to know when the fly-overs were advertised for bidding and how many firms submitted bids.

According to him, the best achievements of the Governor Okpebholo-led administration has not met expectations of the masses.

“At what cost did Okpebholo awarded the Ramat Park flyover bridge to the Chinese company and what is the time line for the completion of the bridge? When were they advertised for bidding and in which national newspapers?

“Besides the Chinese Firm they were awarded to, which other firms bidded for the construction? The people of Edo State deserve to know the answers to those pertinent questions, it is their right.

“We are putting the government of Okpebholo on notice that we shall be inviting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to beam its searchlights on these projects that are now the talk of the town,” the statement said.

Responding to the allegations, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, described the CRPP as a scam.

“We will not glorify [CRPP] with a response. Edo people are not blind, they can see the visible signs of our intervention,” Afegbua said.
