6th Convocation: Edo University Iyamoh to Honour Adams Oshiomhole, Vincent Agenmomen

The management of Edo University, Iyamoh, has announced plans to Honour the founder of the institution, Senator Adams Oshiomhole.

Also to be honored is the Chairman of Freedom Group, Vincent Agenmomen.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dawood Egbefo, disclosed this on Monday at the press conference to mark the 6th Convocation ceremony of the institution, scheduled for February 27, 2025.

He said the duo would be award honorary degrees for distinguishing themselves in their services to Edo State and Nigeria.

247nextnews.com reports that Adams Oshiomhole established the University in 2016, when he was serving as Governor of Edo.

Meanwhile, a total of 14 of the 430 graduating students will be awarded First Class during the Convocation ceremony.

Also, 140 other students will receive various Postgraduate degrees, and 20 to receive Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) degree in different fields.

The Acting Vice Chancelior also added that the institution maintained its policy of awarding ₦5 million to the best entrepreneurial business idea graduating student.

He also disclosed that the University is in collaboration with Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO), and the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas to offer students meaningful industrial educational experiences.

Egbefo explained that the university would  continue to  work and support activities  to improve academic achievement while making beneficial societal contributions.

He commended the State Government for  installing optic fibre cable broadband across the university for internet services.

According to him, the installation of the broadband internet services around the campuses was to provide fast transmission of data to the academics, staff members and students.

“Provision of the internet is a crucial part of the structure of an institution of higher learning across the world,” he said.
