Delta State Governor, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Saturday, met with stakeholders of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities over the age-long
boundry dispute.
Aladja (predominantly Urhobo) and Ogbe-Ijoh (Ijaw), are located in Udu and Warri South-West Local Government Areas respectively,
share inland boundaries.
They have been locked in boundary dispute for decades, during which both sides have lost lives in the ensuing battles.
Several attempts made by past administrations to put an end to the crisis failed, as youths from both communities had always found reasons to return to their trenches.
The latest peace meeting which was held at the Osubi residence of the Governor, had in attendance members of the peace committee of the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh crisis.
Both parties agreed to live in peace and adhere to the terms of the settlement agreeable to both communities.
While addressing both parties, Mr. Oborevwori commended their youths and elders for agreeing to maintain and walk on the path of peace.
He assured that he would soon make a pronouncement based on the terms of settlement agreed by both parties.
Representatives of the two communities hailed the Governor for his intervention and subsequent resolution of the age-long crisis.
It would be recalled that Governor Oborevwori had through the State Executive Council, approved the reconstruction of the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh road to ensure free movement of people across both communities.
