A 33-year-old man, Oladipo Akintade, was on Wednesday remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre by an Akure Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stabbing his neighbour to death.

He committed the alleged offence on January 10, 2025, at Omifunfun, when he Stabbed the victim, 45-year-old Dole Akinrino, with a knife.

The Presiding Magistrate, R.I. Adelakin, who declined taking the plea of the defendant, ordered that the case file be sent to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for legal advice.

He, therefore, ordered that the Defendant be remanded pending the outcome of the legal advice and adjourned the case until March 27, 2025, for mention.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Folashade Adeyemi, had earlier told the Court that the Defendant had a misunderstanding with the victim and stabbed him in his left rib.

The Prosecutor said the victim was rushed to a clinic, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Adeyemi who said the offence contravene Section 319 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006, prayed the Court to remand the Defendant in a Correctional Centre.
