The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has hailed the improved security and economic activities in the State,
He also commended residents of the State, particularly Awka and Onitsha residents
Orutugu also commended residents and all relevant stakeholders, especially bus driver’s associations and market leaders, for their resilience and condemnation of the illegally-imposed sit at home order every Monday.
He noted that their resolve to stand up against any act that threatens peaceful coexistence in the State and to work together to improve economic activities, especially on Mondays, is yielding positive results.
A statement on Monday by the Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, noted that the improved security situation was achieved largely due to the intensified security patrols in the State, especially in Nnewi and Ihiala environs, embarked upon by the State Security Patrol teams.

According to Ikenga, the patrol teams comprise the Police, the Army from the 302 Artillery Regiment (GS), the Navy from the Naval Command, Department of State Security, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Anambra State Vigilante.
“The Police-led Joint Security Force is committed to maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and promoting economic growth in the State.
“The exercise is aimed at checkmating any untoward situations in the area. The security patrol had in its convoy security and operational armoured vehicles purposefully driven to encourage business owners and residents to come out and engage in their legitimate activities,” the statement said.
