The Senator Neda Imasuen-led Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, on Wednesday dismissed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, declaring it dead on arrival.
The Kogi Central Senator had filed a petition against Akpabio, alleging sexual harassment.
Speaking during the probe session, the Committee Chairman, Senator Imasuen who declared the petition “dead on arrival,” cited a breach of Order 40 of the Senate Standing Orders.
According to him, Natasha signed the petition herself, instead of having it endorsed by another individual, rendering it procedurally invalid.
Additionally, he noted that the issues raised in the petition were already in court, making them sub judice.
However, Natasha did not appear before the probe panel.
The probe session was meant to start by 2.00pm, but did not commence until after 2:58 PM because Natasha did not show up.
