The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has introduced a new requirement for Higher National Diploma (HND), graduates seeking mobilisation for national service.
In a circular with reference NYSC/DHQ/CM/M/347/T.74, the Scheme said HND graduates must present evidence of completing the mandatory one-year Industrial Training (IT), after their National Diploma (ND), programme before they can be registered at orientation camps.
The circulardatedJuly15,2026, was signed by the Director of Corps Mobilisation, Isa Walida Siddique, on behalf of the Director-General.
According to the NYSC, it observed that some graduates of polytechnics and monotechnics proceed to HND programmes without completing the compulsory one-year IT.

The scheme said the new requirement is aimed at preserving the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system.
The directive applies to all prospective corps members with HND qualifications.
Affected PCMs will be required to present proof of completing the one-year Industrial Training before registration at orientation camps.

The NYSC warned that failure to provide the evidence will affect registration.
The circular, addressed to Rectors and Provosts of Polytechnics and Monotechnics through their Registrars, urged institutions to immediately sensitise students to avoidable setbacks during mobilisation.

Institutions were directed to give the information wide publicity to prevent prospective corps members from being denied registration at camp.
