There was pandemonium in the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), when yet-to-be-identified gunmen stormed the Physiotherapy Ward and shot a doctor on duty dead.
The incident occurred last Friday when the Physiotherapist simply identified as Dr. Alex, was on duty in the tertiary health institution.
It was gathered that patients and other health workers in the ward scampered for safety as the gunmen chased their victim about before finally shooting him point blank
The image maker of the Hospital, Joshua Uwaila, who confirmed the incident, said that the Management of the Hospital has reported the matter to the security agencies and are awaiting the outcome of their findings.
“A physiotherapist with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital was shot dead on Friday,” he said.
As at the time of filing this report, it could not be ascertained if the killing was cult-related or not, just as the police was yet to make a pronouncement on it.
Meanwhile, some health workers have protested the gruesome killing of their colleague.
The protesters were seen in a viral video brandishing placards to register their displeasure over the incident.
