Edo State Police Command has confirmed the murder of Abu Tahir, who was kidnapped with his brother in Auchi, Etsako West LGA, on new year day.
The deceased, a graduate of medicine, was abducted with his elder brother, Abu Ibrahim Babatunde, a medical doctor who is currently undergoing housemanship at the Edo State Teaching Hospital, Auchi.
The two brothers were kidnapped along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, Auchi, at about 7:30 pm, when the deceased stepped out of the vehicle to open the gate for his brother to drive in.
Immediately he stepped out of the car, the gunmen who were reportedly laid ambush pounced on them and whisked them into the bush.
The kidnappers later contacted their family and demanded for ₦200 million to secure their release.
According to a source, the lifeless body of Tahir was said to have been discovered at a river bank during bush-combing by security operatives, comprising police, army, local vigilante and hunters.
He said the kidnappers abandoned the deceased and went with the his elder brother who is a medical doctor.
The source added that the victim’s family was still striving to gathered the ₦200 million demanded for their ransom by their abductors.
He said the deceased graduated from the University as a medical doctor this years but has not gone for his housemanship.
The State Police Command Spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that the deceased was found dead in the bush by the police during bush-combing.
She added that the deceasd’s family identified him to be the younger brother of the medical doctor, whom they were kidnapped together.
