In what is being described as one of the shortest marriages ever recorded, a groom in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, divorced his bride just one hour after their Nikah (Islamic marriage contract) was finalized.
According to local reports, the groom pronounced the triple talaq—the verbal declaration of divorce three times recognized in some interpretations of Islamic law immediately after the ceremony and asked the same officiant who conducted the Nikah to annul the marriage.
Sources close to the matter claim the groom was pressured by his mother, who strongly disapproved of the marriage and insisted he end it immediately.
Despite the union being formalized, the groom reportedly chose to comply with his mother’s wishes, leading to the stunningly short-lived marriage.
The case is already generating buzz across social media platforms, with many expressing concern over the emotional toll on the bride and the social acceptability of such abrupt decisions under familial pressure.
