State of Emergency: Fubara, Family Vacate Govt House, Ibas Yet to Show Up

Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt, South-South Nigeria.

According to an anonymous source, he left the Government House along with his family and security details Wednesday morning.

The source added that while normal activities were ongoing in Port Harcourt and its environs Wednesday afternoon, security at the Government House remained sparse.

Meanwhile, the Administrator appointed by the President to oversee affairs the State for the next six months, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (rtd.), had yet to assume office as at time of filing this report.

There were earlier reports today that Ibas went to meet President Tinubu in Aso Rock.

It was however gathered that preparations were underway in Port Harcourt to receive the Administrator, as about 15 soldiers were seen inside the premises ahead of his expected arrival.

247nextnews.com reports that President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the oil-rich State, following protracted wrangling between Governor Fubara on one hand, and the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike and State lawmakers loyal to him on the other hand.
