The Rivers State Government has reacted to the declaration of a state of emergency in the state by President Bola Tinubu.
When asked for a reaction about the declaration, the State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson, adopted a “No commitment” posture.
He said it was premature for the government to take a stance.
“The President has made a declaration… I think it’s too hasty to make any comment about it,” Johnson stated.
President Tinubu nominated Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as the Administrator to oversee the State’s affairs during the six months period.
The announcement resulted in the suspension of Governor Siminialayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.
247nextnews.com reports that President Tinubu announced the state of emergency during a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday.
