Teenager Dies Testing Charm To Protect Him From Bottle Attack In Edo

A 14-year-old boy, Okonkwo Obinna Emmanuel, has died from a head injury he sustained after a bottle was smashed on his head while experimenting with a charm to make him invulnerable to bottle attack.

The incident reportedly occurred on April 2, 2025, at  Iyamu Village, Illushi, in Esan South East local government area of Edo State.

It was gathered that a self-acclaimed native doctor, Amechi Edozunor who prepared the charm, and one Kelvin Ugru, hit the deceased’s head with a bottle to prove the efficacy of the charm.

The experiment however failed, as the victim sustained a fatal head injury and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment where he eventually died on April 5.

The two suspects were subsequently arrested and detained, after the deceased teenager’s elder brother, Okonkwo Onyenbuchi, reported the incident at the police division in the locality.

As at the time of filling this report, the State Police Command spokesman, CSP Moses Yamu, was not able to confirm the incident, although he promised to call back after contacting the division handling the case.
