Tinubu’s State of Emergency On Rivers Reeks of Political Manipulation – Atiku

Former Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has strongly condemned the state of emergency declared on Rivers by President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku in a statement on his X handle few hours after the declaration, said there is no way Tinubu could absolve himself from the crisis in Rivers.

He added that the declaration of “a state of emergency in Rivers State reeks of political manipulation and outright bad faith”.

He added: “Anyone paying attention to the unfolding crisis knows that Bola Tinubu has been a vested partisan actor in the political turmoil engulfing Rivers.

“His blatant refusal or calculated negligence in preventing this escalation.”

247nextnews.com reports that President Tinubu on Tuesday suspended Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Udo for six months.

He also suspended the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months.
