The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on his victory at the Tribunal.

The Edo Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Abuja on Wednesday night affirmed Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor in the September 21 governorship election in Edo.

The Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led three-member panel dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, against the election outcome.

The unanimous judgment struck out all petitions against the election for lacking in merit.

Reacting to the judgement, Wike described the Tribunal’s ruling as a confirmation of the mandate freely given to Okpebholo by Edo voters.

He urged him not to be distracted, but remain focused on delivering good governance and remain dedicated to serving the people of the State.

The FCT Minister expressed confidence in Mr Okpebholo’s ability to bring relief and development to Edo.

“This victory belongs to the people of Edo State who elected Okpebholo as their Governor.

“I believe in him, and with the way he has started, his government will positively impact Edo State and its people,” he added.
